چکیده

The fluorolytic sol-gel synthesis for binary metal fluorides (AlF₃, CaF₂, MgF₂) has been extended to ternary and quaternary alkaline earth metal fluorides (CaAlF₅, Ca₂AlF₇, LiMgAlF₆). The formation and crystallization of nanoscopic ternary CaAlF₅ and Ca₂AlF₇ sols in ethanol were studied by 19F liquid and solid state NMR (nuclear magnetic resonance) spectroscopy, as well as transmission electron microscopy (TEM). The crystalline phases of the annealed CaAlF₅, Ca₂AlF₇, and LiMgAlF₆ xerogels between 500 and 700 °C could be determined by X-ray powder diffraction (XRD) and 19F solid state NMR spectroscopy. The thermal behavior of un-annealed nanoscopic ternary and quaternary metal fluoride xerogels was ascertained by thermal analysis (TG/DTA). The obtained crystalline phases of CaAlF₅ and Ca₂AlF₇ derived from non-aqueous sol-gel process were compared to crystalline phases from the literature. The corresponding nanoscopic complex metal fluoride could provide a new approach in ceramic and luminescence applications.

Sol-gel prepared nanoscopic metal fluorides – a new class of tunable acid-base catalysts

In this article, the high potential of the fluorolytic sol-gel process to synthesise nanoscopic metal fluorides with different acid-base properties is shown. These nanoscopic materials exhibit high potential to be used as heterogeneous catalysts due to their high surface areas and their tunable surface properties. Thus, for each specific reaction the required surface properties of the catalysts...

The non-aqueous fluorolytic sol-gel synthesis of nanoscaled metal fluorides.

This review article focuses on the mechanism of the non-aqueous fluorolytic sol gel-synthesis of nanoscopic metal fluorides and hydroxide fluorides. Based on MAS-NMR, XRD, WAXS and SAXS investigations in combination with computational calculations, it is shown that a stepwise replacement of alkoxide by F-ions takes place resulting in the formation of a large variety of metal alkoxide fluoride c...

Synthesis and characterization of the Pt/SiO2 nanocomposite by the sol-gel method

The silica supported platinum nanoparticles was synthesized by using the sol-gel method. The possibility of using diamminedinitro platinum (II) as Pt precursor and effect of metal precursor concentration on the final Pt nanoparticle size was investigated. A stable silica sol was prepared via hydrolysis of tetraethyl orthosilicate (TEOS) as a metal alcoxide and condensation reaction. Subsequentl...

Synthesis of ZrO2 nanoparticle by combination of sol-gel auto-combustion method- irradiation technique, and preparation of Al-ZrO2 metal matrix composites

Nanocrystalline ZrO2 with particle size of about 38 nm was directly synthesized by sol-gel auto-combustion method. The overall process involved three steps: formation of homogeneous sol at 50-55°C; formation of dried gel at 110°C, and combustion of the dried gel at 400°C. Experiments revealed that ZrO2 dried gel derived from glycine (Fuel) and nitrate sol exhibited self pr...

The comparison synthesis of CuNiO2 nanoparticles prepared by sol-gel auto-combu on, microwave and co-precipitation techniques

The CuNiCA nanopanicles have been synthesized by sol-gel auto-combusson. microwave and co-precipitationtechniques. Then, the results of the three techniques were compared. In the vol-ael auto-combustion synthesiswas used glycine as a fuel. At first, sol was prepared. Then, gel was achieved from drying so'. The prepared gelwas burnt at 350°C. In the noicrowavc technique, gel was prepared. Then, ...
